Music of the Spheres single & video release
The second of four tracks from the upcoming Sounding Seams EP release, I wrote the poem, Music of the Spheres in 2014 while living alone, deep in a mountain valley in County Wicklow, where I spent many, many nights gazing at the night sky in the kind of inky blackness that only exists in the mountains.
The music is based on a sketch I'd made for chimes & voice in 2018 for the Sounding seams I performance. I composed the final song in 2022 while preparing material for the Clang Sayne Sounding Seams recording.
The video was made by Simon Arazi in 2024.

Music of the Spheres
Hardly the song of sirens,
this heaving of the heavens.
What, with all that spinning and burning,
and the ice-cold threat of meteor collision ever looming.
Rather I'd wager,
A Grand Celestial Din.
And I imagine
the low, ominous rumble
of planets slowly turning,
occasional explosions,
dark matter hotly fizzing,
and the incandescent hissing
of a brand new sun.
